Birth of Fisher, Baptist Hospital, Pensacola Birth Photographer

I recently had the incredible opportunity to work with Erin as both her photographer and doula for her birth. This experience was unlike any other as it allowed me to witness a miracle and capture those precious moments as they unfolded. From the very beginning, Erin expressed her concerns about delivering at Santa Rosa Hospital in Pace, as it was quite a distance from her home and she was feeling anxious about the long drive while in labor.

As her trusted photographer and friend, I took the time to listen and understand her worries. We discussed the possibility of her delivering at Sacred Heart Hospital, which was closer to her home. However, I believed it would be best for her to stick with her established care provider and deliver at Santa Rosa Hospital. I tried reaching out to another OB/GYN in the area who could potentially switch her to a hospital in Pensacola, but unfortunately, it was too late in her pregnancy and my contact would be on vacation during her due date.

Ultimately, I advised Erin to stay with her doctor at Santa Rosa Hospital as planned. However, I did offer her an alternative: if she felt unable to make the drive to Pace while in labor, I suggested walking into Baptist Hospital instead of Sacred Heart. Although I adore Sacred Heart, they have been very busy lately with a high nurse-to-patient ratio and even a wait time for rooms. On the other hand, Baptist Hospital tends to be less crowded and maintains a remarkable 1-to-1 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Santa Rosa Hospital may not be the most popular choice for delivery, and I had never photographed a birth there before. Still, I was looking forward to capturing moments of joy and wonder in that unique setting. However, amidst all my excitement, I reminded myself that the well-being of the mother is paramount – not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too. I wanted Erin to feel empowered to make the decision that resonated with her when the time came.

Reflecting on this experience, I am reminded of why I am so passionate about birth photography. It allows me to be a part of such a monumental moment in someone's life, capturing their story in vibrant, captivating images. As a birth photographer, I aim to create a clean aesthetic that brings out the emotions and highlights the beauty of this incredible journey.

From the moment Erin went into labor, to the intense contractions, and finally, the miraculous arrival of her precious baby, every second was a testament to the strength and resilience of women. Being both her photographer and doula, I had the honor of being by her side, supporting her through every stage of labor.

One of the most memorable moments was when Erin held her baby in her arms for the first time. The room was filled with overwhelming love and joy, as tears of happiness streamed down her face. It was a timeless moment of pure bliss that I was privileged to capture in a series of color images.

Working with Erin was an absolute pleasure, and I am grateful for the trust she placed in me as her photographer and doula. This experience has reaffirmed my passion for storytelling through photography and the power of visual storytelling in capturing the essence of birth.

To all the expectant mothers out there, I encourage you to consider incorporating birth photography into your birthing experience. The moments captured will become treasured memories that you can cherish for a lifetime. And as a birth photographer in Pensacola, Florida, I am here to document your journey, reflect your vibrant emotions, and create a visual narrative of your beautiful story.
